  • It’s a good album, but.....

I love 88, always been a huge fan; however, the first album I literally liked every single song with the exception of one or two. I can’t say I have the same feeling for their second one, which isn’t bad, but didn’t have the same standards I would’ve had for the first album. What I’m trying to say is that I don’t feel it was an improvement from Heads in the Clouds.

Is it just me or is Jackson on fire?!! Some of his best, I love it. I love Niki and Rich they created some awesome songs. Big fan of 88rising, they do not disappoint! Great piece of work, keep the amazing collabs coming!
  • Lacking in Quality Which Made the 1st Album Great

    By Radnovic
As a fan of most 88 Rising artists, especially Joji, Niki, and Rich Brian, I really do think this album doesn't raise the bar like how the first Head in the Clouds album did. Whereas the first album mixed in lofi vibes with some soft hip hop and matched well with the aesthetic which the album art and music videos were going for, this one feels like a mess. Nearly all of the songs are autotuned and don't match with this 80s retro/funk aesthetic. It all feels too artificial and appealing more for the mainstream, generic party crowd. It just lacks the life given to the first album by the artists' unique styles and rhythms. I had pre-ordered this album anticipating the same quality and unique spin which the original Head in the Clouds album had, but am left feeling disappointed after hearing nearly all of the songs sounding identical due to the heavy use of autotune and similar beats. I don't think I will be pre-ordering a 88 Rising album any time soon after this let down.
  • So fricken good

I’ve loved 88 Rising for a long time, and they always have good stuff.... but man they went all out for this. Just came out and it’s already my fav album of 2019. ✨

Too much pop, that’s was my concern on the first album.

Music is the art of arranging sounds in time to produce a composition through the elements of melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre. It is one of the universal cultural aspects of all human societies. General definitions of music include common elements such as pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping; there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces (such as songs without instrumental accompaniment) and pieces that combine singing and instruments. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike; "(art) of the Muses"); see § Etymology and glossary of musical terminology.

Music can be divided into genres (e.g., country music) and genres can be further divided into subgenres (e.g., country blues and pop country are two of the many country subgenres), although the dividing lines and relationships between music genres are often subtle, sometimes open to personal interpretation, and occasionally controversial. For example, it can be hard to draw the line between some early 1980s hard rock and heavy metal. Within the arts, music may be classified as a performing art, a fine art or as an auditory art. Music may be played or sung and heard live at a rock concert or orchestra performance, heard live as part of a dramatic work (a music theater show or opera), or it may be recorded and listened to on a radio, MP3 player, CD player, smartphone or as film score or TV show.
