Reviews For Appassionato By Artist Yo-Yo Ma

I blame my dislike of this CD solely on iTumes for forcing me to buy the whole CD rather than just the one song I wanted. I din't want the other songs and after a week of owning them know I only wanted the one song. I would have written a glowing review for the one song I have BUT apple wanted to play the pricing game like this. Disappointed.

Who would have thought that yo yo ma could have pulled off another perfect album in this lifetime? This is a must for all. I guarantee it will lift the sorrows and pains of life for you just as it did for me. Listen and let his notes flow over you as you let go of all your stress. High recomendations and an absolute must for all classical lovers.

If for no other reason to buy this album, get First Impressions. It's absolutely a soul stirring experience, brilliantly played with the Cello and the violin in perfect harmony speaking to each other, like lovers in the night...

This is by far my favorite Classical Album of 2007. Every track is a jem that the listener cries for more when it has finished. And the variety of music is just plain fun. Highly Recommended!! Peace and Love, Guy Piano

I have several of Mr. Ma's CD's that range from the eclectic variations of the Silkroad Ensemble to his classical pieces in this, his latest work. Over the past several years I have enjoyed how he has worked with other artists to bridge-over into other genres of music. We have been the benefactors of his talent and versatility.

Gabriel's Oboe from the Mission is one of my all-time favorite melodies and Mr Ma lifts it to new heights. The rest of the album is equally breathtaking.

They made reference to Yo yo Ma on my favorite telivision show and I wanted to check out who he was because I hadn't heard about him before that. l was kind of dissapointed with this. l mean, generally l like classical music. This wasn't very good.

Music is the art of arranging sounds in time to produce a composition through the elements of melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre. It is one of the universal cultural aspects of all human societies. General definitions of music include common elements such as pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping; there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces (such as songs without instrumental accompaniment) and pieces that combine singing and instruments. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike; "(art) of the Muses"); see § Etymology and glossary of musical terminology.

Music can be divided into genres (e.g., country music) and genres can be further divided into subgenres (e.g., country blues and pop country are two of the many country subgenres), although the dividing lines and relationships between music genres are often subtle, sometimes open to personal interpretation, and occasionally controversial. For example, it can be hard to draw the line between some early 1980s hard rock and heavy metal. Within the arts, music may be classified as a performing art, a fine art or as an auditory art. Music may be played or sung and heard live at a rock concert or orchestra performance, heard live as part of a dramatic work (a music theater show or opera), or it may be recorded and listened to on a radio, MP3 player, CD player, smartphone or as film score or TV show.
