Reviews For Hot Thing - EP By Artist Talib Kweli

  • Allusion to Morrison?

mmmkay. I was listening to this....the beat's all right, but do we know whether it's a deliberate or an accidental allusion to Toni Morrison's Beloved (the one that won the Nobel Prize)? If it is, that's amazing(x10^5) But anyhow. A decently listenable song. Not my favorite of his, but pretty good.

I love this song, it has a kind of old school vibe to it, which got my attention. Will-i-am adds a nice touch to it too. Check it out!
  • Holy crap!

Is it SO bad for a real MC like TK to do something a little different than his usual stuff? This song, I will admit, strays from his other material. But hey, it's a nice change. It shows he's just a normal guy who appreciates a good woman. Can't a typically backpack MC do something a little different and not be labled as selling out? Lighten up people, no one freaked out when Common made "The Light". Its the same thing on another level. I hope yall can agree with me, this is still fire. Talib, come em coming baby.
  • No doubt, it's hot!

I'm not sure where all of the negative comments fit in exactly. Any true Kweli fan would respect any work he puts out. And why is it that listeners expect every song that he puts out to be preachy? Other great hip-hop artists such as Jay-Z and Nas have fun records so why can't Kweli? Not only do I believe all of his works are hot because he's Kweli, I believe they are because THEY ARE!!! Kweli is one of the few that STILL do it right, so stand up for hip-hop and show some respect. This album is definitely worth purchasing, and I'm sure EARDRUM will not disappoint- because honestly, when has he ever?!!!

As a lounge/club DJ in the Philly area...we are really up on whats hot and what's not...I think this a great, feel good record to put on at the beginning of the evening to get people ready for the night. I'm lovin' will i am on the production, who is one of the most diverse producers out there today. Lyrically, you know what Talib is capable of, so I feel it's ok for him to touch a subject like "a hot lady"...He's human and he likes women..I'm cool wit dat ...I'll be spinning it this weekend!!! I love this song. Will.i.am created a perfect beat for the summer. I think this could be a hit with a video. Can't wait for EARDRUM!
  • Hot Song.

It is not only a hot song, but this man has been making great music for years. In a time of, what I would call pathetic rap music, the blacksmith always keeps it real. The man can spit, there is no doubt about that, be he makes good music also.
  • Really good.

Music is the art of arranging sounds in time to produce a composition through the elements of melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre. It is one of the universal cultural aspects of all human societies. General definitions of music include common elements such as pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping; there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces (such as songs without instrumental accompaniment) and pieces that combine singing and instruments. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike; "(art) of the Muses"); see § Etymology and glossary of musical terminology.

Music can be divided into genres (e.g., country music) and genres can be further divided into subgenres (e.g., country blues and pop country are two of the many country subgenres), although the dividing lines and relationships between music genres are often subtle, sometimes open to personal interpretation, and occasionally controversial. For example, it can be hard to draw the line between some early 1980s hard rock and heavy metal. Within the arts, music may be classified as a performing art, a fine art or as an auditory art. Music may be played or sung and heard live at a rock concert or orchestra performance, heard live as part of a dramatic work (a music theater show or opera), or it may be recorded and listened to on a radio, MP3 player, CD player, smartphone or as film score or TV show.
